Accounts - Merge

Purpose

To explain how to merge two accounts in Magnifi so that actual and budget values are combined and reporting is clearer.


When to Use

  • When you have added a manual account in Magnifi and want to merge it with a similar account imported from your accounting system.

  • When you want to delete an account but need to reallocate its values to another account before deleting.


How To

  1. Go to Chart of Accounts > Merge Accounts.

  2. Select the From Account (the account you want to merge).

    • Tick Delete if you want this account removed after the merge.

  3. Select the To Account (the account that will remain after the merge).

  4. Click Merge.

    • The actual and budget values of both accounts will be combined into the To Account.

    • ⚠️ Note: You can only merge two accounts at a time.


Tips / FAQs

  • What happens if I don’t tick Delete?
    The From Account will remain in the Chart of Accounts, but its values will have been merged into the To Account.

  • Can I undo a merge?
    No. Once merged, values are combined permanently. Review carefully before confirming.

  • Can I merge Balance Sheet accounts?
    No. You can only merge Profit and Loss accounts.
