Create a new Magnifi file for an entity so you can import data, set up structure (divisions, segments, groups), and begin forecasting and reporting.
You’re onboarding a new client or creating a fresh file for your own business.
You need a separate file for another legal entity in your group.
On the Home screen, click Add Organisation.
Enter the Organisation Name (how you want it to appear on reports).
(Optional) Assign an Industry classification. This won’t impact configuration; the data will be used for future benchmarking.
Add the organisation to a new Group or assign it to an existing Group (you can update this later).
Tick if you would like to enable Capacity Planning. This opens the Capacity menu item and can be switched on or off at any time.
Tick if you would like to enable the Cashflow Forecast. This opens the Cashflow menu item and can also be switched on or off. If you only need a profit & loss projection, leave it unticked to simplify menu options.
Click Update.
Open the file and click the wand icon in the menu bar to access the setup wizards.
Start with the Profit Projection wizard, then progress to the Cashflow and Capacity wizards once the profit & loss projection is established.
During setup you’ll have the option to connect to Xero or import data via CSV.
Where is the Add Organisation button?
On the Home screen. It’s labelled Add Organisation.
Do I have to connect to Xero immediately?
No. You can create the file first, then connect to Xero when ready. The connection is secure and read-only; Magnifi never changes your Xero data.
How do I add users?
Refer to Manage Users for more information on adding a user to a file.
Do I need to enter a financial year start date?
No. Magnifi is a rolling forecast with one long continuous forecast, viewed 12 months at a time. You don’t need to roll over a file each year.
